Bondage sex act led to man's accidental death

DELIVERY driver accidentally killed himself while carrying out a bondage sex act.
Peter Morley, of Aylesbury Avenue, Eastbourne, was found naked and tied to his bed and ceiling by a neighbour and work colleague on August 18, 2008.
An inquest into the 61-year-old's death was held at Eastbourne


Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Sandra Morley, who separated from Mr Morley and was living in Surrey at the time of his death, told coroner Alan Craze her husband never had pornographic material while she was living with him and never spoke about an interest in bondage.

She said she was 'shocked' at the way he was found but added, "I definitely don't think he tried to kill himself.

"He was not suicidal in any way."

Les Colgan, who worked with Mr Morley at City Link, knew he was in debt but said he was not depressed.

"There is no way he did it deliberately," said Mr Colgan.
Detective Inspector Julie Overton attended the scene and carried out an investigation into Mr Morley's death.

DI Overton told the coroner, "I have been unable to find any evidence of any third party having been involved.

"It is clear to me he had an interest in bondage-style sexual activities from the DVDs and computer images which were found at the address."

DI Overton confirmed Mr Morley would have been able to tie himself in the position and said there was no evidence of any violence.

She added, "His death is unusual and unexplained but there is nothing suspicious."

Pathologist Peter Jerreat carried out a post-mortem examination and gave the cause of death as ligature asphyxiation.

Mr Craze recorded a verdict of death by misadventure and said, "He had clearly involved himself in something for sexual gratification which went very wrong and he was asphyxiated from a rope around his neck."
