The Botox doctor, the dominatrix and a case of blackmail

An eminent doctor was blackmailed by a dominatrix who secretly filmed him in an embarrassing position, a jury has heard.


Marion Burton - who called herself Mistress J - had gone to the physician's surgery for Botox treatment but lured him into performing a sex act which she caught on a hidden camera.

Later her husband Terry demanded £20,000 from him saying that if he did not pay up the video would be passed to newspapers and the medical authorities. But the doctor informed the police.

The jury at Reading Crown Court heard that the couple had fallen on hard times after 50-year-old Mrs Burton had lost her job as a mortgage broker, and had debts of £55,000.

She started advertising her services as a dominatrix in the summer 2008, dressing up as a headmistress for some clients while others preferred her to wear a mask and use whips. She claimed her oldest client was 72.
She had started seeing Doctor X, who cannot be identified, at a clinic in Maidenhead, Berkshire, the previous year, when nothing untoward happened. But after she started her new business she returned and they had sexual contact.

The doctor described to the police how he struck up a friendship with Mrs Burton which involved them at first exchanging text messages.

He told detectives that during an appointment on October 18 last year, when the incriminating film was made, the pair had touched each other intimately before he performed a sex act on Mrs Burton and then himself. The 40-minute film was shown to the jury.

'Marion Burton set out to trap the doctor by some form of honeytrap,' said Ian Hope, prosecuting.

'The prosecution suggestion is that, yes, she went for Botox but she really went to see if he would be amenable to her advances.

'Her intention during the summer of 2008 was making money and she intended to make money using her sexual appeal to the doctor.'

Later that month, Dr X noticed he was being followed by a Land Rover after finishing a clinic.

'He stopped at the end of the road and was approached by the driver of the Land Rover,' said Mr Hope.

'He locked the car doors and wound down the windows. The man who approached identified himself as Marion's husband.'

Terry Burton showed the doctor a picture of him in an incriminating position and demanded £20,000 so that the picture never made it into the hands of newspapers or the General Medical Council.

The jury heard that the startled doctor drove to his home in the West Midlands where he alerted the police.

Asked later in a recorded telephone demand what would happen if the money was not paid, Terry Burton said: 'First of all I think I will pass the stuff on to the News of the World as they are interested in such stories and pay big money.'

Mr Recorder Ian Darling heard that when police raided the Burtons' house in Twyford, Berkshire, they discovered paperwork relating to the doctor, covert recording equipment and bondage and sex toys in the bedroom.

The jury was told that Terry Burton, 51, has already pleaded guilty to blackmail but his wife, now of Maple Crescent, Slough, Berkshire, denies being involved.

'She suggested that what Mr Burton was doing was outside her agreement and control,' said Mr Hope.

'He was doing his own thing and she was not present at the roadside.
'Nevertheless she was party to that act of blackmail as she had been concerned with setting up the doctor for quite some time.'

The case continues.
