LONDON- A British codebreaker spy who police believe may have been accidentally suffocated during bondage sex merely appeared to be into kinky sex for a new undercover identity he was taking on for his super secret work, a friend has told investigators. Gareth Williams of MI6 was studying bondage websites and appeared at gay drag clubs for his new persona, according to the pal.


"He said he was learning his new identity. He often came round with his work," friend Sian Lloyd-Jones, 33, tells the Daily Mail. The night he died "he came over with his box file and started going through it. He had two passports."

Williams was found padlocked inside a canvas bag. Police have been seeking possible sex partners and a couple seen apparently exiting from his apartment. Investigators found $22,000 of brand new women's clothing and wigs in his closet. "He was open with his family, and if he was gay and had any temptations he would have spoken about them, especially to his sister," she said.

Williams' body was found in August and the case is proving particularly tough to crack.
