BDSM film 'Remedy' to open 10th annual CineKink NYC Film Festival

USA - NEW YORK - Cheyenne Picardo's psychological drama Remedy
, will open the 2013 CineKink NYC Film Festival on February 27 with a screening at Anthology Film Archives in New York City, CineKink founder Lisa Vandever announced on Tuesday.CineKink NYC - aka "The Kinky Film Festival" - is celebrating its 10th anniversary "Decade of Decadence" this year, February 26-March 3, starting with a gala fundraising kick-off party on Tuesday February 26.
"Remedy is precisely the type of film we exist for, and it feels very fitting to have it open our milestone, tenth season," said Vandever, in a statement on Tuesday. "Cheyenne has done an amazing job at creating a colorful yet sympathetic look at some of the characters that inhabit the city's kinky landscape, conveying both the fun and self-discovery that can be found within it, and the importance of knowing where your trust is best placed."

A psychological drama based on writer/director Cheyenne Picardo’s personal experience, REMEDY follows a woman into the dungeons of New York City and the world of professional domination and submission. There, entering the business almost on a lark, she takes on the fantasies of her clients, all the while exploring her own desires, and discovering some very real physical and emotional limits along the way.
"I'm hoping to demystify professional BDSM </topic/bdsm> in a way that's personal and accessible by showing it through the eyes of someone discovering that scene for herself," said Picardo, who hopes that the film "humanizes the people who do this work, showing the perks and the pitfalls of exchanging money for fantasy."

On Saturday March 2 CineKink will feature "The Feminist Porn Show," a showcase including a selection of clips introduced by Tristan Taormino and featuring the work of Candida Royalle, Annie Sprinkle, Nina Hartley, Jackie Strano and Shar Rednour, Petra Joy, Erika Lust, Shine Louise Houston, Anna Brownfield, Carlos Batts, N. Maxwell Lander, Emilie Jouvet, Louise Lush, Jaiya, Maria Beatty, Buck Angel, Madison Young, Courtney Trouble, Morty Diamond, Tobi Hill-Meyer, Kelly Shibari, Loree Erickson and more. "I am so thrilled to bring ‘The Feminist Porn Show’ and a discussion about feminist porn to CineKink,” said Taormino, in an earlier news release in January. “CineKink is one of the only film festivals that supports and nurtures feminist porn, and creates space to talk about the politics that come along with it."
The Feminist Porn Book: The Politics of Producing Pleasure contributors including Jiz Lee, Sinnamon Love, Kelly Shibari and Courtney Trouble will then join Taormino and Royalle for The Feminist Porn Panel, prior to the "Bring It!" program of excerpts from the current adult films.
