From Gwyneth Paltrow's school classmate to whip-wielding dominatrix.(book)

USA - NEW YORK - A woman has told of how she went from being a student at an elite private school in Manhattan to a dominatrix earning $300 an hour for her services.
Alexis Lass, now 36, wrote on
New York Post, that as a young girl she attended Spence with future stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kerry Washington, all of whom thought of her as 'weird' because she was the 'artistic black sheep' at the prestigious school.
But these days Miss Lass is a far cry from the 'proper lady' she was brought up to be, having pursued a career as a dominatrix and written a book,
The Posh Girl's Guide To Play, about her experiences.
As a dominatrix, Miss Lass developed a specialty in 'corporal', which involved inflicting physical pain on her clients with single tail whips, canes and spanking.
'I loved throwing a whip,' she writes. 'We use a singletail whip, it's like what Indiana Jones uses, but it's not that long. A long one actually can decapitate somebody.'
But despite her flair for domination, Miss Lass didn't always know that she would end up as a dominatrix.
The author explains that as the daughter of two creative types, she always felt like a misfit at her school, where students dined in a room with chandeliers and 'really expensive murals from the 1800s.'
Her dissimilarity became all the more clear when she did an art project with her sixth grade classmates, which saw her constructing heads out of clay.
'I made mine with breasts. All the girls thought that was really weird,' she says.
After attending art school in New York, she finally found her calling at the age of 27 when her boyfriend at the time, a 'hard-core punk-rock guy,' recommended she try her hand at domination.
She went to a dungeon called the Nutcracker Suite, where she witnessed a 'foot-worshiping session. This guy was on the floor, licking the soles of these two dominatrixes' boots,' she recalls.
After trying her hand with a whip, Miss Lass was hooked, and she moved out of her parents' Upper East Side home to pursue her new calling.
She writes that she earned a generous salary of between $250 and $300 per session, working around six hours a day.
But after two years the job eventually wore on her psychologically, especially because her clients tended to rely on her since they couldn't reveal their sexual tendencies to close ones.
'We're the only ones, so that's why they bond with us,' she explains, adding: 'It's sort of sad.'
After ending her career as a dominatrix and pursuing several roles in fetish films, Miss Lass published a 'how-to' book about S&M, and says she has no regrets about her past.
In fact, she still goes to 'fetish parties' to 'play with people', and is open with friends - even those from Spence - about her past occupation.
'Being a dominatrix really opens you up and makes you feel more independent,' she says. 'I say that every girl should be a dominatrix for a day.'
